That's Wilfred's reaction, not mine. We took down a large mirror and propped it against the wall so we could sweep the chimney and Wilf has just spotted himself in it. The huge black thing has the temerity to bark back too! Wilf is furious.

Animals are funny about reflections, aren't they? I remember the young cockerel I had last year, when he got ill we took him into the kitchen to see if we could get him to eat without the other chickens around trying to get their share... he jumped off my lap, saw a chicken in the glass of the oven door so drew himself up, all fluffed out, and squawked his displeasure. He then turned, stalked across the kitchen, saw another chicken in the brushed steel bin, and snuggled up next to it...

Aww bless him. I hope he got better.

Sadly, he didn't, which is why when we had two cockerels hatch from the clutch of eggs we let them both grow and now I live in fear of neighbours complaining about them crowing ;-)

Oh crikey. I don't mind crowing cocks, it reminds me of being a kid, all tucked up in bed, safe and cosy, but I know how outraged incomers can get about having their sleep disturbed. I hope that if they crow they do it quietly.

The neighbours I've asked have said they don't mind - they've heard worse. I just worry...

Lol. Oscar used to stand on my dressing table, stand on his hind legs and scratch furiously with his paws on the mirror. He probably thought he could get through it like Alice. 😀

How dare he! No wonder poor Wilf is offended! XD

(Hope he survived bonfire night without getting too traumatised?)

He was more puzzled than scared I think. I did take him out latish for a wee and he came scooting back in when a rocket went off, but he was quite cheerful. Fingers crossed he doesn't get worse.

He keeps going and giving the pup in the mirror hard looks "I'm watching you pal!"

Awwwwh. Can you imagine the household without him at this point? He sounds delightful. (and the mirror was a good distraction so he didn't try to "help" with the cleaning)

Ah yes, soot + black puppy + grey sofa = funtimes.

Poppy does that, but Scruff takes very little notice of reflections.

I think they grow out of it. I remember Sirius having a good yap at himself reflected in the oven door, but later he'd just ignore it.

I's fun while it's happening, though. :D
