Because I'm clearing out my kitchen this is very appropriate - gacked from [livejournal.com profile] alex_beecroft

How is your cookery? Bold the ones you have and use at least once a year, italicize the ones you have and don't use, underline the ones you have had but got rid of, and strike through the ones you never had [which is everything not bolded or italicised so i can't be bothered]:

I wonder how many pasta machines, breadmakers, juicers, blenders, deep fat fryers, egg boilers, melon ballers, sandwich makers*, pastry brushes, cheese knives, electric woks, miniature salad spinners, griddle pans, jam funnels, meat thermometers, filleting knives, egg poachers, cake stands, garlic crushers**, martini glasses, tea strainers, bamboo steamers, pizza stones, coffee grinders, milk frothers, piping bags, banana stands, fluted pastry wheels, tagine dishes***, conical strainers, rice cookers, steam cookers, pressure cookers, slow cookers, spaetzle makers****, cookie presses, gravy strainers, double boilers (bains marie), sukiyaki stoves, ice cream makers, and fondue sets languish dustily at the back of the nation's cupboards.

* I don't use it but my daughter does and I nick a toasty sarnie when she's not looking. Mmm lovely.
** The paint has come off it so I tend to use the blade of a knife now.
*** It was a present and won't fit in the oven.
**** What the hecks a spaetzle?

My Mother-in-Law (who was the coolest lady EVER!) said all you need to keep house is an iron skillet, a colander, and strong thumbnail.

That not withstanding:

I wonder how many pasta machines, breadmakers, juicers, blenders, deep fat fryers, egg boilers, melon ballers(used for things other than melons though), sandwich makers (I have Two! One is electric the other stovetop/campfire), pastry brushes, cheese knives, electric woks, miniature salad spinners, griddle pans, jam funnels, meat thermometers, filleting knives, egg poachers, cake stands, garlic crushers, martini glasses, tea strainers, bamboo steamers, pizza stones, coffee grinders, milk frothers, piping bags, banana stands, fluted pastry wheels, tagine dishes, conical strainers (it was my Grandmother's and I used when I made tomato juice, but have not done that recently, also have her grinder, apple saucer, and some other neat things), rice cookers, steam cookers, pressure cookers, slow cookers, spaetzle makers, cookie presses, gravy strainers, double boilers(bains marie), sukiyaki stoves, ice cream makers, and fondue sets languish dustily at the back of the nation's cupboards. Microwave Mixers, electric tea kettle.

The sandwich makers are WONDERFUL ! I've put all manner of fun things into them - like chocolate chips and marshmallow cream, or cheese and onions... Love my hot toasty little pockets of yum!

She does sound very cool.

I would probably use the sandwich maker more often if Jen ever cleaned it before she put it away.
