I've posted today about when is a Mary Sue not a Mary Sue? Post sparked off by someone giving me some information about the marvellous Vulcana, photo below, who could bent, not bench, press 125lb one handed.
She was an Abergavenny girl, see, who worked in the tannery yard just below my window in the castle. It's astonishing to think that she wowed the crowned heads of Europe by weight-lifting and breaking the hand of a pick-pocket who tried to rob her. She also stopped a runaway horse, rescued child from drowning and was injured in a theatre fire, rescuing performing horses belonging to another act.
The thing is, if you put that in a book people would say it was too far fetched. Almost as far fetched as her boy friends moustache. He looks like he has a ferret on his top lip. I'm going to pester the boss to let me do an exhibition about her. She looks fun.
