Today my visitor is suemont talking about her latest novel, Hewhay Hall, which is horror with a het love story!!! Oh yes, I'm an equal opportunity torturer *pokes with really soft cushions*

I'm close to the end of my annual accounts, but not close enough for my story for the UK Meet anthology. I'm still not happy with it and still only half done. Each time I show it to someone I dig myself a deeper hole so I'm thinking that possibly it was a bad idea to start with. At least only one person has said "If you're worried about being too samey you ought to have them split up and go off with girls. Nobody else would be doing that!"

On the other hand, as I'm writing I can feel Kit and Griffin from On A Lee Shore and Gwion and Cynfal from half finished A Fierce Reaping bitching mightily about being abandoned. Does anyone else get that? Such strident bloody character voices hammering away in ones head that one can barely think?

So many Kits! It's's the nom de jour I think, nice and snappy to say and quick and easy to type. :) I've heard of three others besides ours.

New characters are very seductive and all too easy to acquire. I'm hoping one day to have the self discipline to have one strident set at a time.

It's funny, because I thought I was being awfully original with the name, and then I noticed ;)

I'm usually pretty committed to one set of characters, and find it hard to snap out...but must get my mind to those edits, as I'm pretty sure they're imminent...it's good to flexible like you :D

No! It isn't. Keep to one set at a time or you'll end up like me with a stack of unfinished projects. The habit of a lifetime means that I can acquire a new cast of stroppy blokes just by daydreaming a bit while I do the ironing. When I had no intention of doing anything with them it didn't matter but now it's bloody inconvenient. One at a time is a jolly good rule.

I got up really early and finished the story - six and a bit thousand words of silliness. I'm going to sub it before I chicken out.

I'm with you on the daydreaming thing, but I'll daydream on the same muse(s) at great length...I'm an obsessive me ;) But I do worry it makes my characters a little samey, at least in physical type, if not personality :P

I do the physical type thing - one's usually bulky and blond, the other sinewy and dark. I tell myself I can give it up any time I like.

Thanks, babes. I've sweated blood over this one - stagefright, I think. It doesn't matter when I sub to a stranger but OMG, Charlie, Alex, Jamie, Clare, Jo - if it's crap I'll feel as though I'm letting them down.

I have an obsession with small, usually blond, fighty men. One of my guys pretty much always falls into that category, I can't help myself. I can vary a little within 'type' but can't seen to stray too far!!

I'm sure it'll be great - *hugs* I've not been able to come up with an idea that suits...but, basically, I massively empathize with the stagefright, to the extent that I've panicked myself out of writing anything at all!!

Oh no!! That won't do. They say second novels are the hardest though and you managed Bound to the Beast beautifully!

Aw, thanks :) Bound to the Beast nearly killed me, to be honest - so, yes, I'll agree with that old adage!! But Catching Kit was a breeze to write after that (ah, the joys of not having to check the historical pedigree of every word!!) and I've just finished my first rough draft of number 4, so it's all good...it's really just the UKMeet I clam up about, sadly!! None of my ideas ever fit the brief...and, yeah, I'm terrified of the awesome company. Not a brave little writer, me :P
