On A Lee Shore now stands at exactly 100756 words and I'm faced with the problem of how to end it. I knew what I wanted to do when I started and I still think it' sensible but now I'm writing it it seems rushed and perfunctory in comparison with the rest of it. I'm going to have to tighten everything up on the second draft belt in several notches, braces so tight they are walking on tippy toes. :) then it might makes more sense.

Anyhow... I'm giving myself a week to get it finished. Watch this space for the big sigh of relief.

LOL it serpently should.

I'm also going to have to go through to discover whether all the naval terms I've used mean what I think they mean or something else entirely. I remember - how could I not - reading a novel where someone saddled his horse, tightening the girth around its pasterns, and I giggled so much I completely failed to appreciate how serious the rest of the chapter was.

Hehe! I could read that in all cluelessness and not bat an eyelid! But then I don't know stem from stern when it comes to horses ;)

Hmm it would be a bit like someone writing a sailor climbing the mizzen mast to sit in the head?

I think. Now I'm going to have to look it up.

"(....tightening the girth around it's pasterns..." lol. Now that does bring some very odd images to mind. :)

Go and do something physical and mindless like gardening and see if your subconscious brain can sort it out for you!

I'm doing masses of housework because I have to sort out furniture for the son to take to Weymouth! This means dusting behind and under everything instead of the uaul 'squaring away' procedure. I HATE household chores with a passion so any character I write after will probably be annoyed. :)
