Well that went sort of well
Dec. 29th, 2011 12:55 pmChristmas has been and gone with its usual mixture of OMG good and OMG bad. But on the whole it was a decent one because nobody close to me died and nothing we cooked was actually inedible, though the turkey came close to it. Public info for friends list - bronze turkeys aren't magic. Just because they have brown feathers one can't leave out all the little tricks, tips and wheezes that go into making white feathered turkeys tasty. But since I didn't have to cook it - Christmas Day is the day himself steps up to the cooker - it was GRAND and went down quite easily with lashings of gravy.
Presents were exchanged and gratefully, in my case, received. XD himself bought me a Wii with sports things saying he hoped he might see me on my feet instead of my arse more often this year. Consequently I have taken up the challenge to play golf by dropping my arm over the edge of the sofa while I hold my ereader in the other hand. I like the way the crowd goes Awwwwww as the ball whizzes into the rough. OTOH the archery game is fantastic fun once one remembers what all the different buttons do.
Now I'm gearing up for the New Year, with capitals because that is what one does in late December. THE New Year because a few days makes all the difference in terms of shrugging off what we didn't particularly like about the old in the hope that what's to come will be better. Actually 2011 was pretty good to me. I braved up to the point that I actually finished and submitted 3 short stories and in the process met some fabulous people who have been SO KIND. Supportive, encouraging, challenging, making me actually think about what I write and why I write it. I have learned a lot this year. Thank you. Much <3 to you all.
This year I have decided that resolutions are pretty pointless but I am making a to do list that I hope will be reasonable and not too rosy-specsy optimistic. More about that in January once I have pared it down to a doable core. Meantime - happy new year, in case I don't remember to post again before then.
