A day of firsts, in fact. My first trip to Weymouth to see my son and his girlfriend. Wilf's first long car journey. My first Starbucks coffee.

Journey was okay. Son and GF were lovely and so was their tiny flat [their last one was horrible]. I really want to explore Weymouth some time. Chesil Beach is really impressive. so are the pies from the Pies and Ale pub!

Wilf had a grumble in the car - such a boring thing to have to sit still and not chew the drivers ears - but he was very good on the whole and adored the kids. That was good because Mike was very upset when Sirius died. He called him 'silly bastard' and Sirius loved it. But as soon as he saw him Wilf threw himself into Mike's arms and adored him.

Coming home, rush hour *facepalm*, too many lights, too many cars - yuck! So we stopped for coffee.

Starbucks - yeah right. I didn't like it but couldn't stop drinking it. I think maybe it has catnip in it or something.

We're home now and just to put the cherry on top of the day - Wilf just fell in the pond, Paul did too as he tried to fish him out. Duck weed everywhere. I'm NOT laughing. Oh, no I'm not.

Oh yes, it totally has catnip-a-like in it *nods*

I used to meet writer-y friends* in Starbucks-in-Borders-in-Oxford (when I lived down there) and it was astonishing how many mugs would be gathered on our table(s) by the end of an afternoon...

*we were a bunch of people who'd met up because we were having a go at Nanowrimo and we kept meeting up after that even though most of us didn't finish our Nano-things, and we rarely talked about writing...

IGD loves cars - he can bark at everything outside and nothing can get in to get him. Pest curls up in a ball and tries to ignore everything until we get there - he came trained that way or it is a natural instinct. Pest is having a bad time at the moment becase there is much furniture movement going on - new pieces of furniture have to be growled at or hidden from or both. The dogs are spending much time hiding in the kitchen, who needs fireworks to make their animals nervous?

Weymouth is a nice place and I loved Chesil Beach. Have fun visiting.

I've never had a dog fall in the pond - had one that just walked in and floated happily. Genius ran up the garden and jumped in the pond when he was two while I was weeding next to it - I think he was trying to splash me - it was a cold day and we were a bit worried about hypothermia when we fished him out,

I'm not sniggering either. Really I'm not.

We went to Chesil which is amazing (http://www.chesilbeach.org/images/bchaerial.jpg). 18 miles long with a lagoon behind it. Very strange. Wilf likes to chase stones and was spoilt for choice.

Mike went all melty. He was shocked at how big Wilf was - he was expecting a little puppy, not a great sprawly thing. But both Mike and Amber were convulsed by Wilf's complete refusual to go up the stairs to their flat. We had to carry him

Lots of people, as well as dogs, fall in our pond.

Dogs are very territorial, anything that intrudes into their space needs challenging, even if it is made of wood. :D

Sadly it was a fleeting visit but the town looked very enticing with roads as narrow and quaint as the Lanes in Brighton. We're going to try and organise a proper little holiday there in the spring.

LOL, yeah so tempting! Poor Wilfy got very chilly though and had to be warmed up. I bet that in the summer he'll be doing it voluntarily.

I don't have much problem avoiding them these days - I think the closest is Shrewsbury or Wrexham which are each a hour's drive away. Think I'll stick to using the espresso machine I have in the kitchen ;-)

We need to help Starbucks out - the poor lambs haven't turned a profit for fifteen years!

In fact maybe we ought to offer them a cash bailout in return for offering so many of our youth such brilliant job opportunities. I'm sure that you'd find someone in government to back that plan. :)
