So I made time to do a meme. Not too sure if it was a good idea.

Grab the nearest book.

Find page 45.

The first sentence describes your sex life for the next twelve months

*sigh*

“Behind the balusters of the forecastle a large number of soldiers, who were laying in wait there under a petty officer full of malice, were preparing to send us a murderous discharge from their muskets.”

Says it all really.

That is a bit of “How Half-Arse became Captain” from Memoirs of a Buccaneer by Louis le Golif. On the one hand it means I got a scary result in the meme – I’m wondering if penicillin would cure that ‘murderous discharge’, but on the other how cool is it that even at work, by absolute chance, the nearest book is about a guy called Half-Arse with a matelot called Pulverin?

Deary me! I would get the murderous discharge treated right away, otherwise it could get very nasty. Just ask Drummer Dick (http://anteros-lmc.livejournal.com/28243.html?thread=251219#t251219)!

“How Half-Arse became Captain”
You're making this up right? Right??!

I'm amused that they were lying under the petty officer!

I just failed to do this meme - first thing I picked up was a trade magazine (still in its plastic wrapping - I don't even know if it *has* 45 pages, but it's certainly not a book!), 2nd & 3rd were address books...

However, the 4th closest actual book-type item is Standish, so I'll have a peek at that... *looks*

lol, yeah, I'll post it :-) Good for a laugh at any rate!

What? Me? Make something up? (http://www.amazon.co.uk/buccaneer-unrepentant-prodigious-adventures-Buccaneers/dp/B0000CIU89/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1338417788&sr=8-4) Though, it has to be said, that the jury is still out on whether Borgnefesse (http://www.netplaces.com/pirates/pirate-fact-or-fiction/half-arse.htm) really existed or was the invention of some 18th century wag trying to cash in on the sales generated by Esquemeling and Captain Johnson.

At least, your result is amusing (the "murderous discharge" sounds a bit scary indeed, and it appears to be contagious if all the soldiers are affected ;)).

Page 45 of the nearest book I could grab has no sentence. Instead, a wolf is staring at me.

It's just occurred to me that I have NO idea where my address book is. Still no worries, eh?

I thought the snippet from Standish showed a proper appreciation of the serving classes. Why shouldn't they get a bit too?

Ooooer! I'm not sure whether that's disturbing or, in the case of hunky wolf shifters, a little less disturbing. Rub his ears and give him a biscuit?

Yeah, yeah, I believe ya. ;)

I looked this up on google books and it completely cracks me up that Borgnefesse is catalogued under "Sport and recreation (http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=g29jAAAAMAAJ&q=The+memoirs+of+a+buccaneer%3Bbeing+a+wondrous+and+unrepentant+account+of+the+prodigious+adventures+and+amours+of+King+Louis+XVI%27s+loyal+servant+Louis+...+of+the+Buccaneers&dq=The+memoirs+of+a+buccaneer%3Bbeing+a+wondrous+and+unrepentant+account+of+the+prodigious+adventures+and+amours+of+King+Louis+XVI%27s+loyal+servant+Louis+...+of+the+Buccaneers&hl=en&sa=X&ei=0yLJT5mBJMiq8QPE5PDPDw&redir_esc=y)"!!! WTF?!
