Have just about calmed down now.

Let's just say that when a neighbour comes round to say that one's mother might be dead and perhaps one had better go check it knocks one all for a loop.

She was FINE. She's done it before. At 86 you can go to sleep when you want and when she sleeps she sleeps SOUNDLY. But she's very pale now and when she dozes off her head falls back and her mouth open and sometimes her eyes don't quite close - yeah scary. Also it was about 9.30 and the lights were off and all the doors were open.

Ah well.

The good news is that her old cat seems to be recovering. The tail is still a bit hinged, but it's moving and he looks much happier. Funny old thing looks like he was designed as a witches cat by Disney.

I'm still poking "Alike As Two Bees" making the last few suggested edits but I know myself. Unless I get rid of it, in a week or two I'll decide that it should have been done differently and rewrite it in first person present, or some such. Anything to put off commitment. If I was its boyfriend I'd be running off to join the Foreign Legion or something.

I think Mum was delighted, in a quiet way, that we got there so fast. She certainly perked up PDQ.
