I'd choose the castle closest to my home because, I'm told, there are no ghosts there. I think it' time we had a 'grey lady' and I qualify pretty well these days.

Just to make sure I got the right kind of press, I think I'll see about planting some bits of information where they can be found to support the story of a tragic love affair. Though actually observers might wonder why the ghost is inclined to giggle.

The one closest to your home?? How many castles are there? Did they used to have feuds with each other in the old times?

There was a network of castles with satellite forts, about one every six miles - the thinking being that, if you have to, you can gallop a horse 3 miles if you get attacked half way. So 6 miles west nor' west is Crickhowell, north east is Grosmont, east is Whitecastle, south east Raglan, south Usk. Those are just the big ones. There were other small ones too.

West there wasn't much apart from unfriendliness. We were on the front line then.

From that map, you can positively see what hard work it was for the Normans to finally subdue the Welsh?

Why were they not leaving them alone again? That would seem like the simpler option.
